22 de Abril - Día de la Tierra

Trees for the Earth

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22, on which worldwide events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970 and nowadays it's celebrated in more than 193 countries each year.

The theme of Earth Day this year is “Trees for the Earth”.

Unfortunately, 15 billion trees are lost every year. This reflects directly in the climate change which decreases and harms the biodiversity of our planet (that are plants and animals).

Why should we care so much about trees?

- Trees help combat climate change by absorbing excessive and harmful CO2 from the atmosphere.
- Trees help us to breathe clean air by absorbing pollutant gases such as nitrogen oxides, ammonia, sulfur dioxide and ozone.
- Trees help communities by helping these achieve long-term economic and environmental sustainability and by providing food, energy and income.
- Trees help protect biodiversity. By planting the right trees it's possible to help counteract the loss of species, as well as provide increased habitat connectivity between regional forest patches.

At Helicopteros Sanitarios we know how important the environment is and we're aware of the urgent necessity of seeking a solution to the loss of trees. Is for this reason that we always recycle the papers we use at work.

But we think this is not enough and we thought of going the extra mile and do something good for our environment on the Earth Day.
We decided we'll plant some trees with help of our kids!
